Yah! Spooks is back!

The new season of Spooks started tonight... very happy :) First episode another heart-racer. Looks like we won't be going out on Saturday nights anymore ;)

We had the All Hallows' Celebration of Excellence last night at QPAC Concert Hall and both the girls got academic awards (proud face) :) Bella also received a special award for getting a high distinction in the national maths competition (she scored in the top 2% of the whole country)... prouder face :))

The Principal's address during the ceremony was just magical (as always)... She spoke about "leading an excellent life". She said the one thing thing most parents tell her they want for their children is for them to be happy, and went on to talk about how we often confuse pleasure for happiness. She said true happiness and contentment comes about as a by-product of leading "an excellent life" of mindful choices and hard work in pursuing your dreams. This doesn't sound as good as she said it... I wish I could remember all her words...

Anyway, it was a lovely night. There was a year 12 girl who played the cello at one point and it was just meltingly beautiful. Okay, I'll stop going on... have a great weekend :)

Bella's blanket

I've finally finished crocheting Bella's blanket :) Took me months and months and about $300 worth of wool - can you believe it? No wonder you never see these in shops! Luckily, it's unusually cold here so she's getting to use it before next winter.

p.s. Have a look at my school photo - freaky how much Bel looks like me these days (poor baby!)

Options

So, this is the black wool dress with blue felt flower headband and blue Repetto flats... I'm happy because I can walk in these shoes...

...but I look like a dag, don't I?

Okay, so next option found hidden in wardrobe... black sheer Trelise Cooper dress with slip and heels. I'm not happy because I can't walk in these shoes and those cobble stone pavers at Covent Garden are tricky at the best of times ;)

So, the compromise... Trelise dress with Anna Sui patent black flats! What do you think?

LFW (help!)

Hi Sar :) Okay... first of all, new haircut. It's very short with a sharp curve at the back, floppy fringe not behaving in these shots but you get the idea.

Next up, new top. Found it extremely difficult dressing for work this morning - sharp hair means I needed something softer in the clothes dept than I happen to possess, so... bought a new top from Bettina Liano. Like it? I cannot believe I've bought something so girlie!

Thinking this may be what I wear to LFW - understated but cute? My only other idea was to wear the Sarah Lancet black wool dress (you know the one). If I do wear this top - skirt or pants? And, will I need to wear girlie shoes or can I get away with boots?

Why did I say I'd go to this? Hope you have some brilliant suggestions for me... (please?) :)

James Lane... at last!

Hey Sar! Finally, some James Lane photos! Just returned from taking the boys to the corner store for some more bread (wow, don't boys eat a lot of bread!). It is a very overcast and gloomy day I'm afraid and the street was totally dead (school holidays no doubt), so the photos don't look that exciting... but I'm glad to have a promise fulfilled :) Can't wait till you guys visit!

That's Paul Hunt couture on the first floor with Ottilly & Lewis on ground level and next to them is Frock Shop. On the other side there's an arcade where my silversmith classes are, at Fio.

There's a handful of high-street stores in this section - you know, Jules & Roc etc. (Can't remember them really because I never go there! ;)

And then on the end there's Sole Devotion (fabulous shoes like Trippen and Camper etc) and Frances Leon (indie tailored fashion with their workshop upstairs)... and of course you know that grey building on the corner ;)

New buildings

Still haven't been able to get a good photo of the new James Lane shopping area but I have snapped some pics of a couple of the new buildings that have been popping up around Teneriffe and the Valley. The architecture is just getting more and more interesting, don't you think? Rainy day today - hope you've got sunshine on your side of the world hon :)

Fluffy rain.....

Who knew it would rain in Spring, it's very strange to see the entire 'air' filled with white 'fluff' - millions of air borne grass seeds. This is about the 8th day it's happened.... very difficult to take photos of the ones in flight as they are almost transparent - bit easier when they hit the ground.......
